Healthy Travel Guide: Wellness and Gluten-Free Eats in Austin, Texas

I visited Austin, Texas (a city known for it’s health and wellness scene!) for the first time in May 2023 with a friend for a super fun podcasting event (Dear Media IRL), and it was SO. MUCH. FUN. I loved Austin and I was so pleasantly surprised with all of the healthy food options (so many gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, refined-sugar-free, industrial-seed-oil-free options)!! We walked, we ate, we met a bunch of amazing people and we just had the best time. Here are the deets!


Stay —

  • South Congress!

    • I highly recommend staying within walking distance to all of the health-conscious shops and restaurants on South Congress.


Healthy South Congress Eats —

  • Two Hands

  • Picnik — For a more casual dining experience with a focus on healthy, gluten-free/dairy-free options!

  • Aba — For a more fancy (and healthy!) dining experience

  • Sunlife Organics — Your go-to spot for smoothies, bowls and daytime drinks that align with all different wellness goals.


Downtown Eats —

  • The Well — Vibey and healthy eats! Upscale ambiance and less casual, but such a great healthy option.

  • Sweetgreen — Perfect for quick and healthy bowls and salads.


Dessert —

  • Gati — Located somewhat off the beaten path, but SUCH delicious dairy-free and gluten-free ice cream!
