UNDER CANVAS // ZION

ADD THIS TO YOUR LIST!!! Under Canvas, in Zion, Utah is one of the most magical places we've ever stayed! We went for our beautiful friends' wedding in April 2021, and I've been dreaming about it ever since. Finally sharing all the details!

GLAMPING > CAMPING

And this is an AMAZING glamping experience. To be honest, I am not much of a camper — I will hike ALL day long but I want/somewhat need a shower and a cozy bed at the end of the day. This was perfect for that! Each tent has their own bathroom now (installed b/c of covid!), so that’s a major bonus, too.

LOCATION

Under Canvas is located in Zion, Utah. Nestled right next to Zion National Park in Utah, you’re surrounded by mountain ranges, starry nights, red rocks and total peace. Truly an experience you’ll never forget.

TRAVEL

We flew from Seattle to Vegas, and then rented a car to drive from Vegas to Zion. It was about a 2 hour drive!

HIKES —

There are some amazing hikes near Zion! Definitely no shortage of gorgeous views. Here are a few —

  • Angels Landing: This is probably one of the most popular hikes at Zion! Looks like as of April 2022, you need a permit now to hike this one, but you don’t need one for all Zion activities! Here’s a link for more information about Angels Landing.

  • Zion Canyon Overlook: This is a super quick, but BEAUTIFUL hike that’s definitely more family/kid friendly! Here’s more information about Zion Canyon Overlook.

  • The Watchman Trail: Good views and doesn’t take too long to complete (about 1.5-2 hours!). More about The Watchman Trail here.

KID FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES —

  • Hiking! Here’s a list of the most family/kid friendly hikes in Zion.

  • Zion Jeep Tours — If you (or the kids!) are not feeling like hiking, there’s the option to do a Zion Jeep tour with a designated tour guide. An awesome way to spend time together while admiring the GORG views and learning a bit more about what you’re seeing! <3

  • Zion Human History Museum: located one half mile north of the park's south entrance on the main park road, or 11 miles west from the east entrance, it’s a great way to learn more about the history of the park. :)

MADDHEALTHY FOOD

To be honest with you, there aren’t too many ‘MaddHealthy approved’ restaurants in Zion! BUT, that doesn’t mean you have to eat food that doesn’t serve you and your bod best!!! For our trip, we made a Costco run and stocked up on lots of the regular food I eat at home, too! Here’s a list of some typical food items I’d stock up on/buy for a trip like this:

  • Organic Rainbow Carrots (plus guac would = the perfect snack!)

  • Organic Turkey Breast

  • Sabatino’s Paleo Basil and Cracked Pepper Sausages (already cooked + clean ingredients!)

  • Simple mills Almond Flour Crackers

  • Barnana Plantain Chips

  • Spindrift (my fave carbonated water wahooo)

  • Crepini Egg Wraps with Cauliflower

  • Wild Caught Tuna/Sardines (great source of omega-3s)

  • Blueberries/Organic Fruit!

  • Hardboiled Eggs
