Maddie’s Musts December’23

I’m officially one month postpartum with my sweet baby Charley. 🥹💕 I feel like I’ve learned so much about myself during this time, and I’m so grateful to be spending maternity leave with my husband alongside me.

Pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum are a wild ride. If you’ve been through it, you know! But if you haven’t been through it (and hope to someday), it’s a time for lots of rest, recovery, and grace - especially for yourself!

I’ve been taking things at my own pace this past month, but still have some faves I’d love to share with you. ☺️

Things that I am oBsEsSeD w/ right now:

FOOD

I don’t have a ton of time for cooking meals right now, so quick and easy, but still nutritious is my main priority. I’m LOVINGGG Mavuno Harvest’s Organic Dried Pineapple (zero added sugar) right now for quick energy and a delicious sweet-chewy punch! I have been enjoying it alongside nuts or as a dessert after a protein/fat/fiber rich meal to keep my blood sugar balanced. APP

If you haven’t already made the investment for your health and purchased an Oura Ring, I highlyyy recommend it. I check my app & stats a few times every day and it has been life changing with all of the information that it provides!

It tracks your sleep stages, breaking down your sleep into light, deep, and REM stages and assigns you a sleep score each night. It tracks heart rate and heart rate variability, body temperature which can help you determine days/phases of your cycle (but is also really great for catching signs of illness and stress levels), and your breathing rate while sleeping, too.

It tracks activity during the day like steps, calories burned, periods of inactivity, as well as activity at night - tossing/turning during sleep and any interruptions and so much more.

I’ve been using mine religiously for over a year and a half and it’s truly one of my favorite wellness tools.. I frequently get asked if I have a link or code, and I sooo wish I did to share with you (working on this! 😉) But it’s a wealth of information about yourself to improve so many aspects of your health.

Of course since I’m breastfeeding, electrolytes are my BFF every single day. 

Most people think they’re just used for hydration, but they’re so important to get each day for nerve transmission, muscle function (mineral depletion is a major concern for postpartum moms), and oxygen delivery by enabling red blood cells to absorb and transport oxygen through tissues.

Even if you’re not postpartum, electrolytes are still important for you. (This is a recent post of mine explaining the importance of adding electrolytes to your hangover kit this time of year!)

RECIPE

And even though I don’t have a ton of extra time right now for cooking, I’m still enjoying a little holiday baking. Jam Thumbprint Cookies are to dieee for! They’re super low in refined sugar, and keto and paleo friendly, too! CLOTHES
