Saffron Turmeric Latte
This turmeric saffron latte is SO GOOOOOD & honestly one of my favorite afternoon rituals lately. It feels cozy, creamy, and comforting while also supporting mood, hormones, stress, and blood sugar balance all at once.
I’ve been loving this as an afternoon “stress drink” instead of reaching for a coffee or matcha... I have a rule of no caffeine after 12, so this is a perfect enjoyable option. It gives me that warm little reset moment during the day without the blood sugar crash or jittery feeling.
The saffron blend I’ve been using has saffron + ashwagandha in it which I LOVE because saffron has actually been studied for mood support, while ashwagandha can help support the nervous system and stress response.
Most coffee shop turmeric lattes are loaded with sugar, syrups, or gums that can leave you feeling inflamed, bloated, or shaky after. This version is creamy, dairy-free, easy to make, and much more supportive for hormones + blood sugar.
I use Malk unsweetened coconut milk + almond milk because the ingredient list is super clean, and adding collagen helps make it more blood sugar balancing and satiating.
It seriously tastes SO fancy but takes maybe 2 minutes.
Why I Love Saffron for Hormones + Mood
Saffron has been gaining a lot of attention in the functional medicine and hormone world for good reason. Multiple clinical trials indicate that saffron is significantly more effective than placebos for mild-to-moderate depression. Studies have found its efficacy comparable to standard antidepressants like fluoxetine (Prozac), imipramine (Tofranil), and citalopram (Celexa).
Research suggests saffron may help support:
Mood + emotional wellbeing
PMS symptoms
Stress resilience
Cravings + appetite regulation
Sleep quality
Nervous system balance
And when you pair that with healthy fats + protein like collagen, it becomes way more blood sugar friendly than the average sugary latte.
Blood sugar balance matters SO much for hormone health because blood sugar swings can impact:
Cortisol
Energy
Cravings
Mood
Insulin
Ovulation
Acne
PCOS/PMOS symptoms
Sleep
This is why I’m always talking about building meals and drinks with protein + healthy fats whenever possible.
Turmeric is another major win here because it contains curcumin, which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation plays a huge role in things like hormone imbalances, gut issues, skin issues, and overall stress on the body.
Saffron Turmeric Latte Recipe
Ingredients
About 1/3 cup Malk unsweetened coconut milk
About 1/3 cup Malk unsweetened almond milk
Optional: tiny pinch of cinnamon
Optional: monk fruit if you want it sweeter but I don’t think it needs it! <3
Instructions
Add the coconut milk + almond milk to your Nespresso frother.
Add 1 serving of the saffron turmeric latte powder blend.
Froth until warm, creamy, and foamy.
Add 1 serving of collagen to your favorite mug and pour hot water until the mug is about halfway full. Mix well until dissolved.
Pour the frothed saffron milk mixture over top.
Mix well and enjoy.
That’s literally it. SO easy, super cozy, and such a good afternoon pick-me-up.
Optional Add-Ins
Depending on your goals, you could also add:
Cinnamon for extra blood sugar support
Ovasitol for PCOS/PMOS/blood sugar support
Magnesium powder at night for relaxation
Extra collagen for more protein, or my favorite vanilla protein powder (code MADDIE)
A splash of vanilla extract for a more dessert-like flavor
Tips for Keeping Lattes More Hormone Friendly
A few things I personally try to avoid in most coffee shop lattes:
Added syrups
Seed oil creamers
Added sugar
Artificial flavors
Gums + fillers
Instead, I focus on:
Protein
Healthy fats
Lower sugar ingredients, unrefined sugar if anything
Clean dairy-free milks
Functional ingredients that support the body
Little swaps like this can make a huge difference for energy, hormones, cravings, digestion, and overall how you feel throughout the day.
